About Little Ridges Nursery
Little Ridges Nursery forms part of Green Ridge Primary Academy. The nursery has a dedicated team of experienced leaders, qualified teachers and early years practitioners who provide exceptional care, learning and personal development for all children. The nursery has an established reputation for ‘high quality’ care and education amongst our current and returning families.
At Green Ridge Primary Academy, children in Nursery follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and are taught using a topic based approach. Children learn through play with opportunities to apply knowledge through child initiated learning. We have a fantastic learning environment which enables children to be independent, successful learners whilst encouraging them to take risks. Our outdoor area has been designed with the needs of the Nursery children in mind and it enables us to provide learning opportunities that are adapted to a wide range of learning styles.
The setting consists of three nursery classes, for children aged from 2-years-old to four-years-old, Little Berries, Little Pines and Little Acorns.
The Nursery is open from 07:30 – 16:30, during term time only. There are 15 hour and 30 hours sessions available; both funded and fee paying as well as our own paid wrap around care from 07:30 – 8:45 and 15:15 – 16:30 each day.
Learning Partners
Parents are encouraged to contribute to their child’s learning from home via the interactive on-line ‘Tapestry App’.
The nursery team use Tapestry to create a time map of each child’s learning journey by gathering a few of the children’s work samples through:
- Photographs, video recordings and written observation notes of the children support planning for each child’s next step in their learning journey.
- Information gathered or observed is used to assess each child’s progress while at Little Ridges. Parents can comment on what is uploaded by the staff team.
A child’s achievement and happiness is greatly enhanced when the parents and nursery work together in their child’s education. Effective home/ nursery communication is vital in ensuring your child settles into nursery and is content. Parents can help reinforce teacher expectations by:
- Helping your child talk about their experiences
- Appreciating the effort made by your child to produce a painting or model.
- Encouraging your child to talk about their learning and successes.

Visits to Little Ridges Nursery
The main intake for nursery places is in the autumn term. Once registrations have opened for the next academic year we will hold prospective open events which enables parents/careers to visit the nursery for a tour and ask any questions to the class teacher and nursery team. Unfortunately we are unable to offer ad-hoc show arounds of our nursery. Please contact the team for any further queries at [email protected].
