Inclusion & SEN/D
Here at Green Ridge, we pride ourselves on being a highly inclusive school. We believe that each pupil has individual and unique needs. However, some pupils require more support than others to achieve well. We acknowledge that a significant proportion of pupils will have Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEN/D) at some time in their school career. Many of these pupils may require help throughout their time in school, while others may need a little extra support for a short period of time to help them overcome more temporary needs. If these pupils are to achieve their full potential, we must recognise this and plan accordingly. Our school aims to provide all pupils with strategies for dealing with their needs in a supportive environment, and to give them meaningful access to the National Curriculum.
We have always taken great pride in our inclusivity at Green Ridge Primary Academy and so we are delighted to announce that we have recently been awarded the Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) and have been recommended as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ following a day long assessment in July 2022. The Inclusion Quality Mark is a standard for assessing schools against a nationally recognised framework on inclusion. It contains eight elements, all practical parts of the life of a school, which deal with inclusion in its widest sense and in all aspects of school life.
